My dresser in my room has been a constant art project. I'm always changing my decor around and it definitely will change in the future. There's a lot of potential when it comes to decorating a dresser. Dressers or dressing tables are what holds all of our "goods" and is a place where most people drop off their keys and things when they first enter the room.
I've utilized mine as a jewelry and perfume holder. I usually have folded laundry or beauty products laid around on top of it, but when it is clean for most of the time, I have this tray displaying some of my precious things!
Not surprising, but this marble and copper tray is from Target. I have this silver necklace tree that I love and I might spray paint it gold now that I think of it. I'm not sure where it is from because my sister gave it to me, but I will link a similar one, here. I like to lay some products that I use every day and I put this little fake plant stem on here to add some green.
I also have this little vase that I got in a mini set of three from Target and put this eucalyptus stem in it that I bought from Ikea. I think eucalyptus is trending so much because it's a dusty green and goes perfectly with pinks, marbles, and metallics.
I have some of my Jo Malone perfumes, my Tarte eye cream, my Glossier hand salve, a nail polish and some products that I reach for every morning and night.
I love how a simple interior piece like this tray literally transforms the dresser and makes it functional and very sophisticated. Growing up, I was always buying pieces like this and I had so many trays. I know that my dresser will probably change as my style evolves, but right now I am pretty pleased with how it looks and hope this sparks some inspiration for people who don't know where to start or what to do with theirs! What's on your dresser?
I think this week deserves a relaxed post because I have been just so uptight lately. I don't know if it was from my resident advisor interview, which went very well, or just all of the stuff I have to do this upcoming week. I'm kind of liking this post once a week type deal because it honestly has been a very fast paced quarter for me. I think up until the end of the month I will just continue with one post a week and see how it goes. I've never posted once a week, but one of my New Year's resolutions was to just take more breaks when I need to.
Last week, I actually went home for the weekend to babysit and get some errands done. It's always refreshing to be able to get away from college life sometimes and actually sleep in your own bed. Seeing my puppy is always a plus. Last Sunday, my whole family and I had a big PJ day which I feel like we never do. It was snowing so much out that we all just committed to staying indoors. Uh Chicago weather.
Since I live so close to home, it can always be up to me when I want to go back home. It's nice because I can make a lot of money on the weekends when I babysit families I know even if I go back for one night. I don't think my "college experience" is being hindered by how close I live to home. It's made me even more comfortable at college and more than ever I have felt pretty well adapted to college. I have a few solid relationships with people and I can get a lot of work done on my own when I need to.
The other night I actually went out with a few friends to this comedy gig at midnight at Annoyance Theater (great name) in Boystown. It was called Holy F*ck Comedy and it is a free show that any comedians get to try out their jokes and sketches for people. I've never been to any type of comedy show really, so this was a fun experience. I want to go to more in the future now! If you're looking for a good laugh, I'd highly recommend.
Even though February is coming to an end so fast, the snow is not. This past weekend we got a quick blizzard and funny enough, it's supposed to be like 60 degrees this week. I'm honestly so done with snow and slush, is anyone else?
This week is going to be a bit all over the place because today I actually have a dodgeball event I'm participating in and on Thursday, I have my final major speech for my public speaking class. EEK! I know this week will fly by fast and I need to just take it day by day. What are your plans for the week?
I'm single like a Pringle and I know a lot of people will be on Valentine's Day this year. However, that does not mean you can't go out and celebrate it with all of your fellow single ladies! I'm not a hater of Valentine's Day and I believe that everyone shouldn't be down in the slumps because they're "alone" this year again. This time of year is the perfect time for honing into ourselves and celebrating who we are. I know it sounds cheesey, but self love is so much more important and if that means sharing this day with family and friends, right on!
Recently, I have been wearing this extremely warm faux Old Navy dress coat. I was not able to find it online, but there are many online like it. I was looking for a coat like this that I could wear with dresses and long cardigans and it is surprisingly very warm. It has a zipper and pockets, too. It's probably one of the warmest dress coats I have ever owned.
This dress is perfect for this time of year because it is actually long sleeve. This Zara dress is so classic and embroidery is so popular right now. It is the perfect Gal-entine's night out dress. I love the detail and many colors on this dress.
I paired it with a very cute Urban Outfitters satchel bag and these amazing blue suede Zara boots that were on sale for only ten bucks. A major steal. I am just in love with these deep teal color and have never really worn this color on my feet before. The chunky heel makes it so easy to walk in them, too. I think these oversized shades really do and can block out the Valentine's Day haters. Ha.
If you're planning on staying in for Valentine's Day, by all means, you do you! I hope this motivates or inspires at least one person to still go out and have fun on this day full of love and sappy romance. It is never bad to celebrate yourself and to hone in self love! Look hot and be hot for yourself :) I know I'll be.
