Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a great holiday and are relaxing and enjoying the time off you are given. I am always looking for new ways to help relieve stress and anxiety, as I have minor cases sometimes, and I know a lot of people suffer from it too. I have a few, fun ways to help relieve stress that I enjoy doing and maybe these things could help someone else too!
First things first, I always like to spark creativity into something whether it be writing in a journal, on my blog, photography, or any other project. Writing has been key in my life especially for this blog. Just writing this now is relaxing. Sitting down at my dining room table and investing my time into something I feel passionate about helps me relieve stress and have a bit of fun I guess. You don't need a fancy pen or computer, just take whatever piece of paper or notebook you have and write. Write a story, an entry, maybe draw some doodles or whatever your heart desires! It's a way for you to calm down and have some "Me-Time".
I have also found coloring as one of my favorite things to do, I may not be 7 years-old anymore but, hey I think it's fun and plus, this Johanna Basford coloring book isn't just any ol' coloring book. It's an ADULT coloring book! Natalie, that's like the stupidest idea ever. But, it's not! This is an intricate coloring adventure! Maybe some people think it's a stupid idea but, for me, this book has been so much fun to do. It's like therapy so I'm told. And these marker pens are perfect for all of the small detail Johanna drew (yeah she drew all of the pictures you see above). If you really like being creative then these books are great for you! She has a garden book, ocean book, and so much more! These books are about ten dollars but, they're so worth it and are incredibly detailed and fun to do on a day inside.
If you aren't very creative and don't have the time or patience to color, self pampering has been another thing I have been really doing lately. Making time for yourself is vital to living a stress-free life. Doing masks like these up above or taking a bath, painting your nails, or even exercising is always satisfying and revitalizing. These peel-off masks are great for people who don't have a lot of time to wipe off like a full Lush mask. They're moisturizing and cleansing and my face always feels soft and smooth during these colder months. I also recommend lighting a candle while doing this. It helps relax me before I go to bed. I light a candle while I'm showering or doing a mask and my room smells amazing right before I go to sleep.
Lastly, I recommend turning off your phone or setting it aside at times you feel stressed. Natalie, I can't put my phone down for one second! If that's the case, I recommend listening to music with your headphones or plugged into a speaker if you really can't feel disconnected. When I am stress or anxious, the last thing I want to see is someone's controversial post on politics or something like that. I don't care what other people are doing, I care about what I am doing and how I am doing the best I can to be stress-free. We live in this privileged world with tons of technology and things that are really not that important to us and that become something we need to live off of, like our phones. For an hour, turning off or putting down your phone can make a huge difference and I have experienced it--and I'm still alive people! So do yourself a little favor and turn off your phone for a bit.
I hope these tips and this kit helps any of you with stress and anxiety because I know it can be really hard at times when you don't know who to talk to or what to do. Investing time for yourself is going to benefit your health and contribute to your future well being. So take whatever time you have this holiday break and RELAX.
Xoxo Nat
